September Kit of the Month Preview

I finished!  I just need to type up the flyer tomorrow and the directions before the kits mail out.  The flyer will be on my Monthly Kit page, so look for that on Monday.  Here's a little sneak peek of the finished projects.  I am very pleased with how they turned out!

Crafting Day

Boy, has it been a busy week!  In case you haven't heard, we adopted a sweet (usually) dog we named Sebastian on Sunday.  He is 2 years old and a border terrier mix.  We have really enjoyed getting to know him, but he has required a lot of attention!  He loves my daughter, Kaity so he has grown a little attached to her.  This has led to a bit of a protection complex, so he has barked at my son and husband when they leave the room and then return.  We are working on this, so he is getting more comfortable around everyone.

Here is a quick page I created to introduce him to everyone.

Now I am off to prepare everything for my fun Bunco... Stampin' Up! Style event in Boise on Tuesday.  The make-n-take will be based on one of my Happy Birthday swap cards for convention.  We will break for a quick demonstration on how to create an easel card and how to do the Spirelli technique, like I did on my Over the Top swap card.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Directions for Over-the-Top Easel Card

I went to Split Coast Stampers to get the original directions for my Easel Card and the Spirelli Technique.  I wanted my card to be a vertical normal sized card, so I changed the original size and the score lines.  You want to start with a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of CS.

Score at 5 1/2" & 8 1/4"

Fold like this.  Basically, fold in half and then fold the other piece back.

Attach a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock to the top flap.  Make sure you only put adhesive on the flap, not the back of the card front piece.  Decorate the inside bottom of the card with a couple of layers, so the card will 'sit' on the layers when opened.

For the Spirelli flowers, I wrapped the twine around every 4th scallop on both.  For a bigger circle in the middle, wrap around 3.  For a smaller circle, try 5.
Here is the link for the Spirelli flowers and the Easel Card directions on Split Coast Stampers.  Have fun trying these out on your own!

Off to enjoy Convention!  Today is the first day of General Session and Make-n-takes.  :)  Check my Facebook Page for updates!

Heading to Convention and my Over-the-Top Card

I'm so excited!!  My mom and sister will be arriving soon and then we will be driving to Salt Lake City for Convention 2012!!  It is so fun to get your Convention bag and see all the goodies inside!  This year, we get three fabulous stamp sets:  You're Amazing, Daydream Medallions and (from the new Holiday mini) Affection Collection.  I promise to post the Make-n-takes from each stamp set when I get back.

Here is my final card for my swaps that I finished on Monday.  I have to say... I really like it!  And then I realized I had to recreate nine more.  :)  I can't believe how many supplies I used to make this! I created an Easel Card and added some fun flowers using the Spirelli technique and the Quint-Essential Flower.  I'll post the directions and links to the tutorials tomorrow.

Okay... I really love this card, even after all the work that went into it!  I think I will have this be a camp or monthly kit project... Stay tuned and check back tomorrow for the directions.
