Get Whale Card and Video

I was playing around with my Oh, Whale stamp set from the Spring Mini Catalog and decided I wanted to make a Get Well card for a child.  I wanted to make it bright and cheery to make someone feel better.  I love the fun colors in the Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper!

Here are some of the supplies I got out to help inspire me.  I actually used all of them!

Materials used:  Oh, Whale! Stamp Set; Melon Mambo Card Stock; Marina Mist Card Stock; Basic Gray Card Stock and Ink Pad; Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper; Neutral (Basic Gray) and Bright (Daffodil Delight) Brads; Daffodil Delight Card Stock; Happy Whale Clearlits Die; Pinwheel Sizzlits Die; Ovals Collection and Bitty Banners Framelits; Large Scallop Edgelit;  Dimensionals

It's not the best quality, but here is a short video explaining how to use the pinwheel die.  Everyone was sleeping, so I had to be really quiet and use my webcam.  :)

Thanks for checking out my blog and have a fabulous weekend!!

More Fun with Sale-a-bration and Spring Mini Catalog Items

I just had to buy the Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper as soon as I saw all the colors that were in it!  I really love Melon Mambo and Pacific Point together, so this pack is perfect!  The best part about having two sided papers is that one side is usually themed to go with a stamp set, like the Oh Whale Stamp Set and the other is pretty generic.  I wanted to play with items from both the Spring Mini Catalog and the Sale-a-bration brochure, so I chose That's the Ticket and Ciao, Baby Stamp Sets and the 7/8" Scallop Circle and Petite Curly Label Punches.

Affection Collection #1 Friend Card

I finished my second card for my swap yesterday and got them in the mail.  Woo, hoo!  There are two days to spare.  ;)  I wanted to use my Affection Collection set we were given at Convention, so I thought it would look really cool with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  Stampin' Up! is still having some issues with their new Basic Black Ink Pad smearing on Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstock, so I chose to use my Jet Black Stazon pad to stamp the main image.  The only problem was that it really needed to be re-inked!  I decided that I actually like the lighter image, since it added to the vintage feel of the card.  I did use the Basic Black pad to sponge around the edges of the Very Vanilla cardstock and First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Let me know your thoughts!  I will be demoing this card during the month of September, so contact me if you want to book a fab party!

We had a great time in Boise celebrating three birthdays at once!  My Grandma Barbara's birthday was last Wednesday, so we had a little party for her, my niece Callie (who turned 2 on the 13th) and Dylan.  I'm trying to get Callie hooked on Veggie Tales, like my kids were and I think I am succeeding.  She keeps asking for 'cucumber' and loved her Larry the Cucumber toy I bought her.  :)

Callie is so excited to get a stuffed Larry the Cucumber!

Another fun thing about birthdays is all the homemade cards we get!  I've gotten my whole family hooked on Stampin' Up! over the years, so it is always fun to see what cards they make for different occasions.  Here are all the cards Dylan got, plus the card my daughter made him for today.  :)

I forgot to take a picture of my card I made for Callie and Grandma, but I'll remember next time!

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!  Check back tomorrow for some more fun cards and feedback from my last Bunco... Stampin' Up! Style event!

Fun Times in Disneyland!

We are having a fabulous time in Disneyland!  I wanted to show you the little gift I made my kids, and my daughter's boyfriend, just for our trip.
The red are for the girls and the yellow are for the boys.  I added some candies & gum to the little pails.  I added some ponytail holders to Kylie's, too.  :)

I made a cute little Mickey Mouse cover using our 1" and 1 3/8" circle punches, some black brads from our Neutral collection and some tape I had.  These are those little $1 notebooks from Target and I thought they would be perfect to carry around to get autographs and/or write down memories.
Hope your summer is as eventful and fun as ours has been!

Directions for Over-the-Top Easel Card

I went to Split Coast Stampers to get the original directions for my Easel Card and the Spirelli Technique.  I wanted my card to be a vertical normal sized card, so I changed the original size and the score lines.  You want to start with a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of CS.

Score at 5 1/2" & 8 1/4"

Fold like this.  Basically, fold in half and then fold the other piece back.

Attach a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock to the top flap.  Make sure you only put adhesive on the flap, not the back of the card front piece.  Decorate the inside bottom of the card with a couple of layers, so the card will 'sit' on the layers when opened.

Spirelli Easel Card created by Tammi Verbarendse
For the Spirelli flowers, I wrapped the twine around every 4th scallop on both.  For a bigger circle in the middle, wrap around 3.  For a smaller circle, try 5.
Here is the link for the Spirelli flowers and the Easel Card directions on Split Coast Stampers.  Have fun trying these out on your own!

Off to enjoy Convention!  Today is the first day of General Session and Make-n-takes.  :)  Check my Facebook Page for updates!

Heading to Convention and my Over-the-Top Card

I'm so excited!!  My mom and sister will be arriving soon and then we will be driving to Salt Lake City for Convention 2012!!  It is so fun to get your Convention bag and see all the goodies inside!  This year, we get three fabulous stamp sets:  You're Amazing, Daydream Medallions and (from the new Holiday mini) Affection Collection.  I promise to post the Make-n-takes from each stamp set when I get back.

Here is my final card for my swaps that I finished on Monday.  I have to say... I really like it!  And then I realized I had to recreate nine more.  :)  I can't believe how many supplies I used to make this! I created an Easel Card and added some fun flowers using the Spirelli technique and the Quint-Essential Flower.  I'll post the directions and links to the tutorials tomorrow.

Fun Flower Trading Card

I finished my other trading card swap on Saturday night.  I wanted to use some Floral District Designer Series Paper in the background, so that gave me my color scheme to work with.  I used Rich Razzleberry (which used to be my least favorite color, but it is really growing on me), Lucky Limeade and So Saffron.  The Quint-Essential Flower was perfect for this card, so I just made it smaller by not using the whole image.  I think the small saying sets are perfect for these little trading cards and 3x3 cards, so I used Tiny Tags again.

Over the Top Card... Still in Progress

Well, I can't seem to get this card to work for me.  I want to use Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Island Indigo, so I colored them on the Postage Due large stamp.  I like that, but I can't quite get the layout to look really cool.  Just thought I would show you one version, while I figure out how to finish it off.  I think I just need a really cool card design...  The right side overlaps the left side to keep the card shut, but it's just not enough.

This is my last swap I have to finish, so it will be done by Sunday night!  I want to work on general swap cards Monday, since Convention starts Wednesday!!!  I can't wait!!

Stepped Up Tricky Treats Holder

I finished playing around with my treat holder and I must say, I'm pretty pleased.  My daughter recommended some sparkle, so I found my shimmer paint and used a dauber to highlight the spider web.  I also added a Pumpkin Pie glimmer brad to the top of the tag.  I wanted to raise up the 'Eeek!', so I used the Bitty Banner Framelits and cut out the saying and popped it up with a Dimensional.  Let me know what you think of this stepped up version.

Happy 4th of July and Swap Sample

I want to wish all my friends and family a very happy and safe 4th of July!  We're still deciding what we will be doing, but I know we'll watch fireworks somewhere.

I thought this cute 3 x 3 card swap would be perfect for today, since it has a red, white and blue color scheme, with some sunny yellow.  Enjoy!

Some fun projects

Here is the project I demonstrated at my Stampin' Up! party on Tuesday night.  I love these clear envelope mini scrapbooks!  (Thanks, Stacy for showing me how to make them!)  I created the album first and then created the cover next.  The cover would be really cute as a card, too!  I used the Big Shot to demonstrate the embossing folders and then I had the numbers and letters precut to save time.  I used the Alphabet Simple Numbers and the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies.  I love these and am sad that they are retiring too!  You still have until May 31st to order them, unless they sell out before then.
Clear Envelope Mini Scrapbook created by Tammi Verbarendse
Any guesses who may be receiving this in August??  ;)

The next project was their Make-n-Take.  I wanted to keep it very simple, so I used another retiring set, Baroque Motifs.  I gave them the option of adding some texture by using the Square Lattice embossing folder.  Then I had to add some bling!  My favorite item in the catalog is still the Basic Pearls!  I could use them and the rhinestones on EVERYTHING!!  :)
Created by Tammi Verbarendse
These are two of the projects that will be available to make at my 1st Stampin' Buffet that I am hosting later this month.  You can choose Thursday, May 24th from 5 - 9 p.m. or Saturday, May 26th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Check back tomorrow for all the projects and how to order.  This will also be available as a kit, so check the Monthly Kit tab on how to order that way.

Happy Stamping!
