12th Day of Christmas

Since Christmas is tomorrow, I thought it was perfect timing to show off the December calendar page today.  We went to the Festival of Trees for a fun girls only outing when we were in Boise over Thanksgiving.  Way cool!  It really helps to put you in the Christmas spirit!

10th Day of Christmas

My son really didn't want to dress up much for Halloween this year, but his Uncle Steve sent him a flight suit, so he couldn't resist.  Plus, the temptation of candy was too much.

I love this page because I used a design from a Halloween Goody bag to add an embellishment.  Why re-create the wheel?

8th Day of Christmas

August is my son, Dylan's birthday month.  He now gets to share it with his niece, Callie, but he doesn't mind.  He adores her!!

I wanted to add some more pictures to this page, so I decided to create a mini album to hook to the front.  Well... when you are crafting after midnight, you don't always think things through.  I made a matchbook style album, but tied a knot on the ribbon.  It would be fine, except that the inside pages are supposed to flip out.  I finally got so frustrated with slipping the knot down to open the book, that I added some more ribbon and tied a bow.  I'm sure my in-laws will appreciate that!

The Matchbook/Flipbook was easier to work with once I replaced the knot with a bow!

7th Day of Christmas

I LOVE this page!  We had a family picture taken at the zoo, but the best part is when we were visiting the museum with Bry's family and his dad, who is a pilot, climbed up to look into the window of one of the helicopters... then we saw the sign.  Too funny!

6th Day of Christmas

June is Kaity's birthday month, so she is the star of this page.  I love the turtle picture at the top!  (Yes, that is a baby turtle.  They are all over the roads in Minnesota in the spring/early summer.)  These pictures really show off her personality.

3rd Day of Christmas

I decided to focus on my husband, Bryan for the month of March, since his birthday is on the 6th.  The sayings I stamped worked perfect with these pictures!  The paper is from a Simply Scrappin' Kit that will be in the upcoming Occasions Mini.

1st Day of Christmas

Well, I thought if would fit perfectly to showcase my Calendar pages with the 12 days of Christmas, since there are 12 months and the last one is December.  I create one of these every year for my in-laws and my husband.  (The rest of my family makes their own.)  I'm usually pretty bad at the journaling part, so... I just hope they remember who people are.  ;)

The pictures that I took at Olympic Park in Park City, UT were perfect for January.

Nightmare Before Christmas Tree

I bought this cool black tree for Halloween and never decorated it.  We decided we kind of liked it on our mantel, but how do you fit it in with Christmas?  The answer, of course is to make Nightmare Before Christmas ornaments!  My daughter, Kaity loves making items with bottle caps, so I put her in charge of this project.  She drew the characters on little circles cut out with the 1" Stampin' Up! circle punch and adds Crystal Effects to the top.  Once they are dry, she punches a hole at the top with the Crop-a-dile and then used the thin black ribbon at the top.  She's so creative!

Problem with the Stampin' Up! websites

I guess Stampin' Up! is having some problems with our Demonstrator Websites, so... if the link to the right won't work, just send me an email and I can place your order myself.  You can also try the Stampin' Up! website and click on the 'store' tab at the top.  It should take you to the main ordering page and then just choose Tammi Verbarendse as your demonstrator to get the discounted prices.

I just got my Sale-a-bration brochure and the items you can earn for free are awesome!  (For a sneak peek of one of the stamp sets and paper, check out my February, May & November calendar pages I'll be posting during my 12 Days of Christmas showcase.)  Contact me to schedule a workshop from January 24th - March 30th to take advantage of these specials!  I will be in Boise from Feb. 17th - 20th, so I can do a workshop on the evening of the 17th and anytime on the 18th.  I already have one scheduled on the 19th - Thanks, Miss Ralynn!

Also, the Occasions Mini will be available then and I love all the springy items!  You can get a little sneak peek of the Simply Scrappin' kit in this mini when you check out the March, April & June pages.

Gift Tags

Dylan and I had fun creating some homemade gift tags the other day.  I am really into Mixed Media, so I decided to experiment with dryer sheets, paper and paint.  When they were all dry, we cut/punched them out and added them to our packages.
Dylan's really focused on painting.

Dylan thought a plastic fork would work better to hold the circles down to create our snowmen.
He was right.

Our finished snowman tag made with the dryer sheets.

I'll post some more tags tomorrow, so don't forget to check back.  Also, I will start the 12 Days of Christmas on Tuesday, December 13th!  You'll get to see one calendar page a day!

Tammi's Digital Studio Day (Hopefully...)

I promise I haven't forgotten to add new projects to my blog!  My in-laws arrive today, so I have been busy shopping, wrapping, cleaning & crafting.  I started a tradition years ago where I give them a photo calendar every year.  I try to stamp or use my Stampin' Up! supplies for most of them, although I have had to just order picture calendars a couple of years.  As you can tell, it's not like this is a surprise for any of us, but it still seems to sneak up on me every year!  I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. to finish the pages.  I still have to write in the months and dates, but that won't take too long.  The nice thing for you, is that I can now post a page a day and have my own little 12 Days of Christmas celebration.

Speaking of the 12 Days of Christmas... when are they really?  I decided that they are whenever I want them to be, so I will start them tomorrow.  Look for my 1st Day of Christmas post tomorrow, along with my January page.

Oh, since this is supposed to be my digital scrapbooking day, I will hopefully be using My Digital Studio to add a Christmas blog banner later today!  Wish me luck!!

Family Cardmaking Day

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving yesterday!  We made the trip from Utah to Boise on Wednesday to spend some time with our family this year.  It was so nice to celebrate Thanksgiving with them again!  It's been 5 years since the last time we were able to, since we were living in Minnesota.

The other nice thing about living closer to my family is that I get to enjoy our Family Cardmaking Day again!  This year it will be my mom, sister, aunt, grandma and my sister's mother-in-law.  We each design a card and then make 5 of each person's card.  It's so fun to see what everyone created and we get a head start on our Christmas cards.

Here is a picture of the one I created on Tuesday.  I am know as a procrastinator, so I waited until then to create my card, prep my kits, buy my family some Christmas gifts (so I don't have to mail them), wrap them, create gift tags for them AND create a couple last minute Christmas gifts that I can't show you until after Christmas.  (I don't want to ruin the surprise.)  Phew!  Glad I got it all done and I hope you like my card.

Mixed Media Christmas Project

I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend, whether that means being productive or laying around in your pjs all day.  I did a little of both.  Here is a picture of a canvas I'm working on using my leftover scraps from my November Kit of the Month.  I've been wanting to try a Mixed Media project on canvas, so... I did!  This is just one stage of many for this piece.  I wanted to create 3 canvas projects that spelled out 'Boo!', but... never got to it.  Now I decided to try for 'Joy!'  Maybe I'll have it finished by Thanksgiving.  ;)

Sunday Family Day Pic

I've been thinking a lot about my Grandpa Calvin this weekend, so I thought a picture of the two of us would be perfect for my Sunday pic.  He had surgery on one of his arteries yesterday and is still in the hospital recovering.  I know he will be fine because he is very strong and... well... he just will be.  Please keep him in your prayers and hope that he heals quickly.  I can't wait to see him on Thanksgiving!

Tammi's Digital Studio Day

I know it's not officially Digital Scrapbooking Day anymore, but I thought I would try posting a project I created with My Digital Studio every week. For today's project, I wanted to highlight two photos that I just love right now. One is with my sister and her daughter and the other is me with my youngest child. The thing I really love about My Digital Studio is that you can easily create a scrapbook page thanks to the digital layouts that come with the CD. I used the Summer Home kit to create the layout below. All I had to do was add my pictures and the journaling.

Pretty Pearls

Here is a pretty card using one of my favorite single stamps, Triple Treat Flower.  A simple way to jazz up a card is by adding our Stampin' Up! Basic Pearls or Rhinestones.  They are self-adhesive jewels that add a quick and simple beauty to a card.  This card was designed by my mother, Cris McCarthy and was very fun to make!  I love how she had us add the pearls to the saying at the bottom.

Welcome November!

It was definitely a beautiful Halloween yesterday!  The sun was shining, most of the day and it was a perfect night for the kids out Trick-or-Treating.  Dylan wasn't sure he wanted to go out, but then the lure of treats was too much for him.  ;)  His Uncle Steve sent him a cool flight suit from Florida, so it was a great costume!

Now... today it is snowing in the mountains and supposed to snow in the valley.  So far, it's just rain, but we'll see.  I wanted to post a beautiful fall card to go with this new month, so I decided on this fabulous card created by my mother, Cris McCarthy.  It uses the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper, like I used on my November Blog Topper and she put the whole card through her Big Shot using a texture die.  What a great idea!!  You can earn a FREE Big Shot by signing up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator through November 11th.  Click on my link on the right for more info!
